The Alumni Association of Mount Royal College was incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta on May 27, 1982. When Mount Royal College became a university, the organization was renamed the Mount Royal University Alumni Association.

The bylaws of the Alumni Association of Mount Royal College were approved by the Directors of the Alumni Association of Mount Royal College on April 7, 1982. The bylaws were later amended by the Association's membership at a general meeting on November 20, 1982. These amendments were then approved by the Societies Branch of the Province of Alberta on January 28, 1983.
