Scope and content
The name of the governing board for Mount Royal College changed to the Board of Trustees in 1966 as a result of the college turning from a private college into a public institution. In order to free up the name ‘Mount Royal’ for the new public college, the Board of Governors requested that the name of the private college and Board be changed to ‘George W. Kerby’. Once incorporated, the new public college became known as Mount Royal College and the governing board was known as the Board of Trustees. The Board operated under the name of the Board of Trustees until January of 1970 when the name reverted back to the Board of Governors.
