Biographical history

The Purdy family consisted of Gordon Stanley Purdy, his wife Margaret E. (Lundrigan) Purdy, and their five children. Gordon Purdy was a World War I veteran and originally from Wallace River, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. Margaret, known as Peg, was from Seaton Carew, Country Durham, England.

Custodial history

Medals and records passed into the custody of Wolf Hooppaw, great nephew of Douglas Gordon Purdy from his maternal grandmother Joyce Marie (Purdy) Kirkwood, the sister of Douglas Gordon Purdy. Fonds was donated by Wolf Hooppaw on March 2, 2018.

Scope and content

Fonds illustrates the military service of two members of the Purdy family; Gordon Purdy and his son Douglas Gordon Purdy. Fonds consists of military medals from World War I and World War II, a book about the battle of Dieppe, and reproductions of photographs and military records.
