Biographical history

Jim Cameron was a Calgary based photographer. Cameron was hired to photograph the construction of Mount Royal College's Lincoln Park campus in the early 1970s. He also captured images of the original downtown campus, Churchill Park campus, Old Sun College campus, and related ceremonies and events.

Custodial history

Fonds was in the custody of Jim Cameron until November 2016 when he gave it to Bridget Damps to be donated to the Mount Royal University Archives and Special Collections.

Scope and content

Fonds illustrates the construction of Mount Royal College's Lincoln Park Campus, which Jim Cameron was contacted as a photographer to document. Fonds consists of negatives, slides, photographic prints, and albums which primarily document the weekly progress of the project, as well as some related ceremonies and events, from the groundbreaking to the grand opening of the completed building. Most materials relate to the Lincoln Park Campus, although there are several photos of the original downtown campus, as well as aerial photos of the Churchill Park Campus (now Bow Valley College), and Old Sun College in Siksika, Alberta. Fonds is made up of three series: negatives and slides, prints, and photo albums.
