Working party of the Post Basic RN Program

File documents the activities of the working party of the Post Basic Registered Nurse program which was formed to collect input and feedback on post RN program education and services in Alberta, and to study and make recommendations on key issues. File contains minutes, agendas, objectives, reports, correspondence, notes, procedures, drafts, summaries of questionnaire responses, program statements, a conceptual framework, a membership list, a questionnaire, committee terms of reference, program admission requirements, and a calendar description.

Universities Coordinating Council

Subseries documents the interactions of Mount Royal's nursing faculty with the Nursing Education Survey Team (NEST), a body of the Universities Coordinating Council Committee on Nursing Education (UCCCNE). The Universities Coordinating Council (UCC) was created in 1966 under the Universities Act to serve as an advisory body to the Minister of Education on matters of new program approvals. NEST was first formed in 1961 by the Minister of Health for the purpose of bringing recommendations related to the training of nurses and the development of new programs to increase the supply of nurses and maintain a high level of nursing standards in the province. The authority to make regulations regarding nursing education became the purview of the UCC through the Registered Nurses Act. Subseries contains correspondence, memoranda, self-evaluations, appraisal reports, annual reports, survey results, program and course information, and NEST recommendations.

The Diploma Nursing Program and nursing certificate programs

Series documents the development, promotion, and management of the two-year Diploma Nursing Program as well as the Post Basic Mental Health Certificate and Gerontology Certificate programs. Series is divided into five subseries: Program and curriculum development, Minutes, Reports, History, and Promotional materials and handbooks. Series contains correspondence, memoranda, brochures, pamphlets, curriculum design tables, student and faculty handbooks, newspaper clippings, minutes, reports, program proposals, surveys, and questionnaires.

Special interest groups and committees - part 2

File documents the meetings and work of several special interest groups and committees such as: CCNP Sub-Committee on Health Services; Psychomotor Skills Clinician Group; Student Faculty Liason Committee; Nominations and Rules Committee; Focus Year Planning Committee; Nominations and Rules Committee; and Curriculum Committee. File contains agendas, minutes, CCNP faculty meeting minutes, correspondence, infectious disease statements and procedures, and reports.

Subseries mainly consists of reports about the Diploma Nursing Program and nursing certificate programs. Subseries contains annual reports, program assessments, study reports, project proposals, departmental objectives, and correspondence.

Recruitment + marketing

File contains memoranda, minutes, agendas, draft program descriptions, draft marketing communication plans, newspaper advertisements, promotional pamphlets and cards, a draft brochure, a bookmark, and a summary of survey results. File also contains a partner kit from the Athabasca University Collaborations Liaison containing correspondence, procedures, a list of transfer credits, a bookmark, and a CD-ROM of Athabasca University logos, photographs, and contacts.

Program development - developing an infrastructure

File contain memoranda, correspondence, drafts reports, journal articles, recommendations on collaborative policies and practices, a chart of the joint decision making process, an overview of instructional faculty needs, a list of contact information, and an overview of each institution's responsibilities divided by: workload, professional development, faculty selection, and administrative duties.

Program and curriculum development

Subseries documents the planning and development of the Calgary Conjoint Nursing Program and subsequent curriculum development and changes. Subseries contains memoranda, correspondence, minutes, planning models, agreements, proposals, reports, calendar descriptions, course and program submission forms, budget calculations, financial statements and summaries, procedures, and policies.

Preceptorship a model based on trust

Item is an instructional video, produced by the Academic Development Instructional Project Committee, designed to act as a learning resource for nursing preceptors and students. Video consists of interviews with students, registered nurses, and nursing instructors, a diagram of the preceptor relationship, and lists of roles and responsibilities.

PBE entrance testing - survey

File documents studies and department discussions regarding nursing student graduation and persistence rates. File contains memoranda, a study prepared by the MRC Planning and Development department on nursing graduation/non-graduation rates, and a report prepared by Lakeland Community College on persistence predictors in nursing students.
