Series documents Steadward's work at the University of Alberta as a professor and founder of the Research and Training Centre for Athletes with Disabilities in Edmonton, Alberta. Series also documents athletes, coaches, athletic teams, and researchers accessing the programs, services, training, and testing facilities at the Research and Training Centre for Athletes with Disabilities.

The Research and Training Centre for Athletes with Disabilities was established by Steadward in 1978. It was later renamed the Rick Hansen Centre in 1987, and finally the Steadward Centre for Personal & Physical Achievement in 2000. The centre is an internationally-renowned disability research centre within the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta, and continues to support sport and fitness of people experiencing disability.

Series mainly consists of photographs, slides, and negatives of athletes participating in various disability sporting events and using training equipment and facilities. Series also contains video and audio recordings, presentation notes, manuals, guides, and annual reports.

Universities Coordinating Council

Subseries documents the interactions of Mount Royal's nursing faculty with the Nursing Education Survey Team (NEST), a body of the Universities Coordinating Council Committee on Nursing Education (UCCCNE). The Universities Coordinating Council (UCC) was created in 1966 under the Universities Act to serve as an advisory body to the Minister of Education on matters of new program approvals. NEST was first formed in 1961 by the Minister of Health for the purpose of bringing recommendations related to the training of nurses and the development of new programs to increase the supply of nurses and maintain a high level of nursing standards in the province. The authority to make regulations regarding nursing education became the purview of the UCC through the Registered Nurses Act. Subseries contains correspondence, memoranda, self-evaluations, appraisal reports, annual reports, survey results, program and course information, and NEST recommendations.

United States Geological Survey

Series consists of monographs and reports published by the United States Geological Survey on the topic of fossils concentrated mostly in North America. The books contain descriptions and have detailed illustrated plates of fossils.

Transcriptions from the works of Joseph Addison and others

File contains manuscript transcriptions from the works of Joseph Addison, the English essayist, poet, and playwright. Transcriptions include excerpts from Addison's play "Cato, a Tragedy," and a lengthy section of an essay published in The Spectator (a daily publication founded by Addison and his friend Richard Steele in 1711 in London), number 513, on Saturday, October 18, 1712.

Transcription of Epictetus' works by Ellis Walker

Item is a manuscript copy of Epicteti Enchiridion, a collection of works of the Greek Stoic philosopher Epictetus by Ellis Walker that was first published in 1692. An inscription at the beginning of the manuscript indicates that Ellis gifted his transcription to his uncle Samuel Walker of York in gratitude for offering him shelter when he fled "the troubles in Ireland."
