Object is a shadow box containing military medals from World War I and World War II. The top row contains the following medals awarded to Gordon Purdy: the Military Medal (MM), British War Medal, Victory Medal (Inter-Allied War Medal), Canadian Efficiency Decoration, War Medal 1939-1945, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.
The second row contains medals issued to Gordon Purdy's son, Douglas Gordon Purdy: The 1939-1945 Star, Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-1945, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.
The case also contains a small silver plaque which states: " Capt. D.G. Purdy/Calg.R./Died in his country's service/19 Aug. 1942"

Miss Cavell - Fusillée par les Allemands à Bruxelles - le 12 Octobre 1915

World War I roll of honour

Item is a roll of honour commemorating the Mount Royal College students, faculty, and staff who served during World War I in the 191st (Southern Alberta) Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. The roll of honour lists participants and includes symbols noting those killed in action (‘x’) and those who died of injury or other ailments (‘+’). The roll features hand painted illuminated borders, and was designed and illuminated by Stafford & Kent of Calgary, Alberta.
