Books of hours

Series consists of leaves and a bifolium from books of hours, Christian devotional texts for the private use of laypeople (non-clergy) which were very popular in the late medieval period.

Charters

Series consists of English and French charters, legal records that documented the transfer of property or rights from one person or group to another. Charters include marriage settlements/contracts, property leases/declarations of sale, a will, a deed, an obligation, and a papal bull.

Natural history of New York : Palæontology

Series consists of books published by the Geological Survey of the State of New York on the topic of fossils from the phylim Mollusca that are found in New York state. The books contain descriptions and detailed illustrated plates of the fossils. The text and illustrations were created to be used by students and educators.

Liturgical books

Series consists of leaves from liturgical books (also known as service books), which were used by the clergy in the celebration of Christian public religious worship. Types of liturgical books in the series include breviaries, antiphonals, psalters, hymnals and gradual processionals.

United States Geological Survey

Series consists of monographs and reports published by the United States Geological Survey on the topic of fossils concentrated mostly in North America. The books contain descriptions and have detailed illustrated plates of fossils.

Series contains Smith's student notebooks on the subjects of geology, geological maps, paleontology, chemical analysis, and x-ray determinations.

Civil defence

Series consists of civil defence pamphlets published by Canadian government departments that describe what to do and how to be prepared in the eventuality of nuclear attacks and other disasters.

Blueprint for survival

Series consists of "Blueprint for survival" pamphlets which were intended for the civilian population containing and contained survival plans and other information to prepare for the possibility of nuclear attack. These pamphlets were published by various Canadian government departments and distributed by the Emergency Measures Organization.

Board of Trustees meeting minutes

The name of the governing board for Mount Royal College changed to the Board of Trustees in 1966 as a result of the college turning from a private college into a public institution. In order to free up the name ‘Mount Royal’ for the new public college, the Board of Governors requested that the name of the private college and Board be changed to ‘George W. Kerby’. Once incorporated, the new public college became known as Mount Royal College and the governing board was known as the Board of Trustees. The Board operated under the name of the Board of Trustees until January of 1970 when the name reverted back to the Board of Governors.

Series documents meetings of the Board of Trustees and its committees. Series contains minutes as well as reports, agendas, financial statements, correspondence, and proposals.

Prints

Series documents the weekly progress of the construction of the Lincoln Park campus. Additionally, series contains photographs depicting the finished main campus building and the ceremonies which followed its completion, including a visit from Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau during the Western Economic Opportunities Conference.

Negatives and slides

Series documents the construction of the Lincoln Park Campus, including the initial groundbreaking, laying of the foundation, installation of walls and flooring, and the addition of design elements. Also included are aerial photographs of Lincoln Park Campus, Old Sun College, and Churchill Park Campus (now Bow Valley College). Series also contains photographs of various board and committee members touring the campus during construction.

Photo albums

Series contains photo albums documenting the construction of the Lincoln Park Campus from the groundbreaking ceremony to the 82nd week of construction. The photo albums consist of photographs with descriptive captions and site map illustrations showing exactly where each photo was taken. Series also contains materials that were used in the creation of the photo albums such as contact sheets, site plan illustrations, and descriptive captions.

Learning Resource Centre

Series documents the services, activities, and structure of the Learning Resource Centre under the directorship of Dyment. Series contains correspondence, reports, minutes, agendas, policies, newsletters, project proposals, and job postings and descriptions.

Program development and maintenance

Series documents the process of planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating new programs and courses at Mount Royal College. Series contains correspondence, letters of intent, program budget information, lists of practicum placements, reports, course evaluation guidelines, procedures, minutes, program change forms, and status reports.

Division of Academic Affairs

Series contains records of the Division of Academic Affairs received by Dyment for review and some records received during Dyment's time as the Acting Vice-President of Academic Affairs. Series contains correspondence, reports, minutes, agendas, policies, procedures, memos about budget planning, organizational charts, and updates from departments heads and deans.

Faculty and Staff

Series contains records provided to Dyment for review and in response to staff and faculty work experiences. Series contains professional development opportunities and requests, job descriptions, position postings and new employee announcements, tenure recommendations, analysis of instructor workloads, contract negotiations, reports, employee evaluation criteria, and correspondence.

College planning and development

Series contains records related to the planning and future development of Mount Royal College. Series contains correspondence, reports, educational development plans and research, policies, committee minutes and reports, and renovation and expansion updates.

Recruitment, admission, and convocation

Series documents enrollment trends and student recruitment efforts. Series contains correspondence, enrollment statistics from the Registrar's Office, a marketing plan, a convocation schedule, admission requirements, reports, and the results of a study on the student experience.

Academic Council and Board of Governors

Series consists of Board of Governor and Academic Council records that were provided to Dyment for review. Series contains agendas, minutes, correspondence, proposals, and agreements.

Music and teaching

Series contains programs from musical events that Leacock performed or participated in as a teacher, a copy of his composition "Sea Horses", and newspaper and journal articles regarding his career and performances.

Awards and distinctions

Series contains awards that Leacock received for his service to Mount Royal College, his accomplishments as a composer and performer, and as a dedicated teacher.

Productions files

Series documents Tom Besse's direction, production, and promotion of plays put on by Mount Royal College's Department of Fine and Performing Arts. The series is arranged by theatre production into files, which generally contains correspondence, programs, production notes, cast and crew lists, and news releases.

Minding the future speaker series

Series contains video recordings of guest lecturers invited to speak on their areas of expertise as part of a speaker series organized by the Mount Royal College Foundation. The lectures were designed to look towards the future and inspire change and innovation.

Institutional reports

The Diploma Nursing Program and nursing certificate programs

Series documents the development, promotion, and management of the two-year Diploma Nursing Program as well as the Post Basic Mental Health Certificate and Gerontology Certificate programs. Series is divided into five subseries: Program and curriculum development, Minutes, Reports, History, and Promotional materials and handbooks. Series contains correspondence, memoranda, brochures, pamphlets, curriculum design tables, student and faculty handbooks, newspaper clippings, minutes, reports, program proposals, surveys, and questionnaires.

Awards

Series documents the development and distribution of student nursing awards. Series contains correspondence, award criteria, lists of recipients, award ceremony programs, award descriptions, and trophies.

Field/travel/work notes

Series contains field notes from geological sites across Canada, the United Kingdom, and France; travel notes from attending geological and mineralogical conferences, workshops, seminars, and meetings across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, China, and Japan; work notes from developing the MinIdent software/database, testing geological samples and equipment, and consulting with colleagues in the United Kingdom, China, and Japan.

History project interview recordings

Series contains audio recordings of interviews conducted by Stephen Wilks and Robert MacDonald with former Mount Royal College students, faculty, staff, and administration as research for the Mount Royal History Project.
