MRC student album

Item is a digitized photo album/scrapbook that illustrates Jackson's school life at MRC. The album contains Jackson's 1929 report card and photos of Jackson's classmates, Dr. George Kerby, and other MRC teachers and staff. Photographs also document the Mount Royal College building, the Calgary Normal School, Mewata Armouries, Capitol Hill, Bowness Park, Mewata Park, and the MRC Cadet Corps.

'At rest' casket plaque

Item is a casket or coffin plaque, which would have been displayed on a stand on the lid of the coffin or placed on a nearby table with a photo of the deceased at the funeral. The family then took the coffin plate home as a remembrance of their loved one. Plaques might then be displayed in the home and kept as keepsakes.

Dog tag and chain

Item is a dog tag belonging to Bennie Ehnisz. Item is engraved with Ehnisz's personnel information including the military district, regiment, religion, and rank.

Memorial Cross medal

Item is a Memorial Cross (also known as the Silver Cross) issued to Ehnisz's mother upon his death. Reverse bears inscription of Ehnisz's name, rank, and service number. The Memorial Cross was awarded to mothers and widows of Canadian soldiers who died on active duty or whose death was consequently attributed to such duty.

World War II medals

Item contains two medals awarded to Bennie Ehnisz, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Canadian War Medal 1939-1945. The Volunteer Service Medal was awarded for eighteen months voluntary service between 1939 and 1947, and to those who had been killed in action or died from injury or disease while performing voluntary service. The Canadian War Medal 1939-1945 was awarded to all members of British and Commonwealth armed forces and the merchant marine for at least 28 days service between 1939 and 1945.

RCAF fur hat

Item is a beaver fur hat and with a king's crown badge, worn by RCAF officers to keep them warm in cold weather.

Item is a RCAF field service cap owned by Ehnisz, also known as a "wedge cap", worn by RCAF officers.

RCAF sweetheart handkerchief

Item is a handkerchief, with an embroidered RCAF wing insignia in the bottom left corner. Item features the name "T-Bee" written in a corner. Based on family history, T-Bee appears to be the nickname of Ehnisz's sweetheart and possible fiancée.

Brass button polishing guard

Item is a brass button polishing guard, also known as a "button stick". Made of a thin sheet of brass, the polishing guard protected the soldier's uniform when polishing the brass buttons still fixed to their uniform.

National Defence for Air correspondence

File contains letters to Bennie Ehnisz's parents from the Canadian military. One letter is from the Minister of National Defence for Air in gratitude of Ehnisz's service and formally awarding his parents the Memorial Cross. Another letter (filed under 53-1-3B) is from J.G. Sparling to Ehnisz's mother, requesting her to wear the memorial cross in honour of her son's sacrifice.
